Speaking of the Archdiocese of Toronto, 'TCDSB' stands for Toronto Catholic District School Board. Catholic?
After just two meetings, the 2SLGBTQ+ Advisory Committee recommends that the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) at their next meeting on May 6, 2021 approve pride month. The Committee states in their Executive Summary to the Board: "... the proclamation of Pride supports our responsibility as Catholics to respect and value all of God’s people." Furthermore, June should be declared pride month, and the rainbow flag representing homosexual pride be flown at the Catholic Education Centre and all board schools.
Here are the major Committee recommendations:
a. Pride Month be proclaimed every June starting in 2021;
b. The Pride flag be flown at the Catholic Education Centre from June 1-June 30; and
c. Every school in the TCDSB raise the Pride flag from June 1-June 30
The recommendations should be rejected since separate boards have the Constitutional right to operate as fully Catholic boards. But it will take a miracle for this to happen. We believe the Committee recommendations will be approved by most trustees this coming Thursday night. It's just a formality, unless Cardinal Thomas Collins decides to intervene. Watch for the progressive virtue signalling, all in the name of cafeteria Catholic teaching. It's bound to be out of control. It's so easy to vote for what personally costs nothing, is politically correct and puts one with the in-woke crowd.
The TCDSB has a Policy about Equity and Inclusive Education. One regulation states that any changes should be "Consistent with Catholic teachings and denominational rights the Board is committed to serving students, families and staff in its diverse Catholic community by incorporating the principles of equity and inclusive education in all aspects of its policies, programs, procedures and practices." But Policy is useless when not being followed. The "Catholic lens" now seems to include everything homosexual. Just days ago, Bishop Douglas Crosby of Hamilton gave the green light to the homosexual activism and pride month at the Halton Catholic District School Board.
The Committee report does infringe on board policy. It also violates denominational rights and Catholic teaching by recognizing homosexual pride for the month of June. Denominational rights have been overruled to meet the demands of the sexual activists, both within and outside the school board. The former lesbian premier Kathleen Wynne will no doubt be happy with the report. Ditto for most trustees, one who has already been Tweeting that the pride victory will be a birthday gift.
What next? The push for outright "sexual rights" as the progressives want for abortion and euthanasia. Yes, the human counterfeit "right" to kill and be killed. "Sexual rights" are currently being advanced by some at the United Nations. Of course the promoters don't call these false "rights" by their true names. Euphemisms are used like, "reproductive rights," "choice" and "dying with dignity." For daring to make the slippery slope argument, Trustee Michael Del Grande has been unjustly criticized, vilified and censured.
The Committee writes, "The flying of the Pride flag further emphasizes that 2SLGBTQ+ are welcomed and loved, and will find a safes pace for dialogue and support. The colours of the Pride flag represent the following." Will there be "safe spaces" for Catholic students and teachers who believe that God created human beings as male and female, that marriage is between a man and a woman, and that the purpose of human sexuality is procreation? For Catholics, who quote the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church? Where in Catholic teaching does 2slgbtq+ define the human person?
Furthermore, "The colours of the Pride flag represent the following: red means life, orange means healing, yellow means sunlight, green represents nature, turquoise art, blue represents harmony, and violet means spirit." There is no mention that the rainbow is a Christian symbol of God's covenant with humanity. In Genesis 9:13-15, we read, "I now set my bow in the clouds and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, I shall recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature, in a word all living things, and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all living things." But we must not let the Bible get in the way of "equity education."
"The proclamation of Pride aligns with the values of the TCDSB." The statement says it all. Secular religion must re-shape "Catholic" teaching. Diversity and inclusion build welcoming schools. Flying the pride flag and establishing "safe spaces" help students become responsible citizens, discerning believers and collaborative contributors to the common good. These are the new “Catholic” graduate expectations. How could anything be wrong?
The Committee didn't forget that June is the month of the Sacred heart of Jesus. They write: "Within the Catholic Church, the month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Sacred Heart of Jesus reminds us and encourages us to always be inclusive of all persons, particularly those who may have or who are experiencing any kind of injustice, exclusion, marginalization, oppression,or discrimination. In the TCDSB, we are to be welcoming communities of everyone, as Jesus was, and as we are all called to be.” Celebrating the Sacred Heart of Jesus must be inclusive and diverse.
Sadly, even a definition of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from Wikipedia and Google is much better than what we get from the largest "Catholic" school board in Canada. The irony is that this is taking place during Catholic Education Week, May 2 - 7. We’re giving the gift of Catholic education, with roots going back to 1620, away for a pagan flag and sexualized letters of the alphabet. Parents need to wake up. And may God help the innocent children.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
