How long, O Lord, how long!
From LifePetitions
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them.” (Exodus 20: 2-5)
An extraordinary, sacrilegious event is scheduled to take place at St. Monica’s Cathedral in Cairns, on 29th April.
According to the event’s promotional flyer (see link below), an “interfaith, multicultural celebration for peace and harmony” will culminate in a “blessing” being given to participants by a Tibetan Buddhist monk, “‘His Holiness’ the 42nd Kyabgon Gongma Trizin"!
This petition calls on Bishop Foley of Cairns, and, indeed, all of his brother bishops in the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, to put a STOP to this sacrilegious event!
The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines ‘sacrilege’ as the following:
“Sacrilege consists in profaning or treating unworthily the sacraments and other liturgical actions, as well as persons, things, or places consecrated to God. Sacrilege is a grave sin especially when committed against the Eucharist, for in this sacrament the true Body of Christ is made substantially present for us.”
The type of meeting described in the flyer - complete with a “blessing” given by a leader of a false religion - meets the test of sacrilege.
This is a profanation of the place, par excellence, in the Cairns Diocese which has been consecrated to God.
The flyer, which has an image of a tree with different symbols of faith nestled in its branches, states:
“Khacho Yulo Ling Buddhist Centre will be hosting this event in the beautiful and spiritual space of St Monica’s Cathedral. The evening will allow all the different faiths and traditions to offer a prayer, chant or recitation for peace and harmony in our community. His Holiness the 42nd Kyabgon Gongma Trizin, Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, will also give a short blessing to everyone as part of the evening.”
The decision to allow this to occur in a Catholic Cathedral shows utter contempt for the faithful of the diocese who yearn to keep holy things holy, and it disrespects the memory of those who built the Cathedral many years ago - and, who would be horrified by this act of desecration.
The fact that this is being done in the name of “peace and harmony” only makes it worse because it suggests that if a person does not wish to see his or her cathedral profaned by “prayers,” “chants,” “recitations,” and “blessings” of false religions, then he or she is somehow not peace-loving or harmony-seeking.
Enough is enough.
This petition calls on the Bishop of the Diocese, James Foley, and the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, to put a STOP to this event.
Moreover, it calls on them to STOP this woolly-headed, politically-correct intolerance, masquerading as tolerance!
If we can get our priorities straight, putting God first with proper worship and devotion owed to Him alone, some of the problems in the Church will right themselves.
Thank you for SIGNING and SHARING this urgent petition!
They are starting to really rub our noses in it. Well the pope does it, he does things to intentionally annoy faithful Catholics, so why not his underlings. These men are altogether evil.
