Convicted of INCEST with his famous sister, this is the story of the execution of George Boleyn, younger brother of Anne Boleyn, who was beheaded on Tower Hill on 17 May 1536 two days before the one-time Queen of England and second wife of Henry VIII met a similar fate within the Tower of London’s walls. In this Tudor history documentary from History Calling I’ll look at the arrest, show trial, condemnation and final hours of George Boleyn, Viscount Rochford, son of Sir Thomas Boleyn, Earl of Wiltshire and Ormond and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Howard. I’ll discuss the evidence against him (or lack therefore), ask was George Boleyn guilty, look at why so many people thought he would be found innocent and discuss the letter he read out in court which may have sealed his fate. His wife, Jane Boleyn, Viscountess Rochford, has long been blamed for providing evidence against him too and we’ll also look at whether or not that is true. The video will share with you the final speech of George Boleyn, including what he thought of his conviction and his religious beliefs. We’ll then look at the death of George Boleyn and at where George Boleyn was buried. This was in the Chapel of St Peter Ad Vincula in the Tower where he was soon joined by his famous sister and several years later, by his wife Jane and cousin, Queen Katherine Howard. I’ll also tell you if the body of George Boleyn has ever been dug up, as far as we know.
