It backfired! Over the past forty years, the Vatican's plan to cancel the SSPX by allowing the Latin Mass and even permitting TLM communities simply BACKFIRED! Today, the number of TLM parishes has quadrupled, causing the late Pope Francis to panic and determine to do whatever he could to slow the rapid expansion of the Latin Mass globally.
So, with the SSPX consecrations of new bishops upon us (this coming July 1), the Latin Mass movement finds itself at a crossroads again -- will we let tribalism divide the clans, or will we unite the loyal opposition, stay in the Church, and keep the Faith? That is the question.
Falling back on his 40 years of experience, Michael Matt discusses the lessons of 1988, the role of the Fraternity of St. Peter, what we have learned, and what we must do moving forward. United we stand, divided we fall. We must get this right!

Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Leo XIV as the Vicar of Christ, the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
