The Life of Queen Mary I, Pt 1 | A Damaged Tudor Princess (See Note)

From History Calling

THE LIFE OF QUEEN MARY I started out well, as Princess of England, heir to the throne and with two loving parents, Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. Her world fell apart however, when her father became infatuated with Anne Boleyn and sought to annul his marriage to Catherine and declare his daughter illegitimate. In this Mary I documentary from History Calling, which is the seventh video in my Tudor monarchs’ series, we look at the early life of Mary I and at how this once happy child became a damaged Tudor princess and began down the road which would lead her to become not just the first Queen of England, but also Bloody Mary.

Nota Bene ~ "Bloody Mary" is a lie. For the truth, read Bad Queen Bess.

  • Henry VIII – 72,000 killed divided by 37 years = 1945.94
  • Edward VI – 5,500 killed divided by 6 years = 916.66
  • Mary I – 284 killed divided by 5 years = 56.8

  • As you can see, Queen Mary killed just over 6% of the total her brother managed and not quite 3% of her father's total. In other words, the Catholic Queen was by far and away more merciful than her bloodthirsty protestant father and brother.

Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Leo XIV as the Vicar of Christ, the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
