The Last Pagan English King | Penda of Mercia

From Studium Historiae

Penda of Mercia was the last Anglo-Saxon king to have lived his whole life as a pagan. He was also the most powerful king in the whole of Britain by the time of his death. And yet, neither he nor Mercia often get a whole lot of attention paid to them, instead overshadowed by other kings from other kingdoms, like Alfred of Wessex, Edwin of Northumbria, or Æthelbert of Kent. So today, let's give Penda some love.
