When Bld Karl was Beatified, it was chosen as his Feast Day because he was a model husband and father. I'm sure when SG Zita is raised to the honours of the Altar, she will share it.
From One Peter Five
By Charles Coulombe, STM, KCSS
Hello!
My name is Charles Coulombe and I am one of the contributing editors here at OnePeterFive. I am pleased to write to you from the vantage of my humble bedroom here in Vienna on this momentous day: the 114th marriage anniversary of Blessed Karl of Austria and his wife, Servant of God Zita.
As you may know, it is also the 7th day of the OnePeterFive Christ the King Campaign—an effort to band together in support of the Truth, and in resistance against the evil wiles of the world, the flesh and the Devil.
On a day like today, I find this cause of ever more importance. If you allow me, I will explain below.
This day is significant for me, because, for many years, I have admired Karl and Zita. Their story has affected the depths of my soul with inspiration to live a holy and bold life.
To date, I have written a plethora of articles on their lives and marriage, including some for OnePeterFive.
Blessed Karl and Zita are an exemplar of the Sacrament of Marriage. Husbands, fathers, wives and mothers, today especially, look to Blessed Karl and Zita for intercession!
Their relatability goes even farther than knowledge of the challenges of marriage and family life—Karl is a beacon for those from broken homes, having experienced first-hand the wounds of his father’s promiscuity. And yet, by the grace of God, he loved both his parents, despite their broken relationship, and he stayed on good terms with them both, until they died.
And now, with the recent events in America, I find that their story’s relevance is uncanny, and their intercession is needed more than ever.
With the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk (who has the same root in his name as Blessed Karl, not coincidentally), we are all feeling the disruption in America, and the world at large, today.
Blessed Karl, as a ruler, had to try to coordinate the interests of many, many different peoples who didn’t like each other very much. Austro-Hungary was a very divided country at the time of his rule. And it’s interesting that the day he died, he said, “I am suffering that my peoples might come back together.”
I’ve been around quite a long time, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen countries quite as divided as it is today. We need to beg the intercession of the Church Triumphant and continue to be bold in defending the truth.
In a time like this, communities like OnePeterFive are vital to the sanity of humanity.
Today, I invite you to join the resistance: fast, pray, intercede, and donate!
Your gift of $100, $250, or even $500 keeps orthodox Catholic content available to the public. Will you join us in battle with a monthly gift before the October 24th deadline?
Your gift of any amount is helpful, but a monthly gift of $50/month or more will make you a member of the Blessed Karl of Austria Circle.
If you give before midnight on October 25th, you will get an invite to our exclusive online celebration of the Feast of Christ the King—I will be there, will you?
In this present state of the world, Blessed Karl proves to be even more relevant, as a voice of truth and reason, an exemplary vision of a man of faith living in a world of chaos.
Thank you for being a witness to reason and truth. Your voice is needed!
Pray for me, and I will pray for you. I hope to see you on the 25th at our celebration of Christ the King, but either way, we will stay united in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
God Bless You,
Charles A. Coulombe

P.S. Your gift today of any amount will count towards our $30,000 OnePeterFive Christ the King Campaign goal. Perhaps I’m biased, but my recommendation would be a gift of $50/month or more, which — on top of sponsoring a full-length OnePeterFive article, something yours truly appreciates — grants you access to the illustrious Blessed Karl of Austria Circle.
