This is one of the most confusing questions that comes up again and again, is North Korea a monarchy?
Obviously, people ask this question because the dictator of North Korea is the son of the previous dictator, who was the son of the founding dictator of North Korea.
Leadership in the country is hereditary, and this is associated with monarchy, so people tend to make the leap that the “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” is therefore an absolute monarchy rather than the communist dictatorship it really is.
