The Funeral and Heart Burial of Anne of Brittany
In this video, I talk about the funeral of an extraordinary woman - Anne of Brittany, the Duchess of Brittany in her own right and also twice Queen of France. Her funeral was the most lavish in Early Modern France and included what to modern eyes seems like an odd ritual, the removal and separate burial of her heart. For the burial of her heart, she created a glorious heart-shaped case.
