The Holy See was saddened by some scenes at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games and cannot but join the voices that have been raised in recent days to deplore the offense done to many Christians and believers of other religions.
In a prestigious event where the whole world comes together around common values, there should be no allusions that ridicule the religious convictions of many people.
Freedom of expression, which is obviously not called into question, finds its limit in respect for others.
SERIOUSLY?
As a friend said, the point is not our feelings. It is the reality of our Maker blasphemed by creatures. Statements focusing only on the faithful’s feeling play into the non-apologies of these satanic reprobates who will say “sorry if you FELT offended” which is like to say “sorry if I didn’t think you are such a Neanderthal as to feel offended by my sophisticated satire”
This entire situation is beyond diabolical. God forgive us for this intolerable selfishness and spiritual carelessness. We owe God more than a puny, "We're sorry."
