Ivan VI Of Russia - Deposed, Imprisoned, Murdered


Ivan VI Of Russia, also known as Ioann Antonovich was born on August 23, 1740 in Saint Petersburg and died on July 16, 1764 in Shlisselburg. Ivan VI was Emperor of Russian descending from the from Braunschweig branch of Romanov dynasty. Ivan reigned from October 1740 to November 1741. 

Formally he reigned for the first year of his life under the regency of first Ernst Johann von Biron, the Duke of Courland and then under this of his own mother Anna Leopoldovna. The baby emperor was deposed by Elizabeth Of Russia and spent almost his entire life in solitary confinement. During the reign of Catherine The Great he was killed at the age of 23 during a flight attempt.
