Anne Marie d'Orléans - Unexpected Claimant To The British Crown

Anne Marie d'Orléans was born on August 27, 1669 at the château de Saint-Cloud, and died on August 26, 1728 in Turin. During her youth, she was called Mademoiselle de Valois. Anne Marie was a member of House of Bourbon-Orléans. By marriage to Victor Amadeus II of Savoy, she became Duchess of Savoy, Queen of Sicily from 1713 to 1720, and then Queen of Sardinia.

She became heiress presumptive with the death of James VII & II's daughter Queen Anne in 1714 which left her and her cousin James as the only surviving grandchildren of Charles I.

In her letters, her stepmother Elisabeth Charlotte of the Palatinate described Anne Marie as "a right virtuous princess who had much merit''. During her 44-year marriage, she always put her own wishes and needs behind those of her husband.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
