Charles IV of Spain was born on November 11, 1748 and died on January 19, 1819.. He was the son of Charles III of Spain and succeeded to the throne on his father’s death in 1788, shortly before the outbreak of the French Revolution.Charles IV was overthrown in a coup in 1808. He was succeeded by his son Ferdinand VII of Spain.
