Coronation: The Audacious Attempted Theft of the Crown Jewels
And Col Blood got a pension from the Merry Monarch for it!
In 1671, former Civil War soldier Colonel Thomas Blood managed to con his way into stealing the British Crown Jewels from the Tower of London.
It became the first and only time anyone has attempted to steal the iconic jewels.
