undreds of thousands of Catholics serve in the military every year, in the U.S. and in many other nations, whether active duty or reserve.

Many more serve in related fields like law enforcement. And still more are closely connected to military life, perhaps because of a family member or friend who is a service member or an interest in military history.

A classic gift is something related to St. Michael the Archangel—he is the patron saint of police and the military, after all—but there are many other options out there as well. Here are a few of the most meaningful.

If you have a loved one in the military, check out these Catholic gift ideas.

1THE HOMEFRONT DEVOTIONAL: NAVIGATE MILITARY LIFE WITH COURAGE, HOPE, AND FAITH BY TARA MCMULLEN

Newly released in 2025, The Homefront Devotional is a relatable and inspiring read for anyone who’s navigated military life, whether as a service member or family member:

In The Homefront Devotional: Navigate Military Life with Courage, Hope, and Faith, McMullen offers heartfelt wisdom and grace that sustained her and her family through deployments, moves, and the uncertainties of military service.

Drawing from scripture, the lives of the saints, and the Catechism, she shows how faith can be a steadfast anchor amid the shifting tides of military life.

“Our roles as military families can make us stronger Christians, and our faith can make us better military families,” she writes, offering hope and encouragement to those walking a similar path.

2FR. KAPAUN ROSARY CARD

Keep this metal Rosary card handy to pray on the go and immerse yourself in the peace of Christ, even when things around you are intense.

The image of Venerable Fr. Emil Kapaun, heroic military chaplain, is an inspiring reminder of our call to become saints.

3ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL SOCKS

While a medal or statue is much appreciated, there’s something extra fun—not to mention useful—about a great pair of socks featuring this iconic patron saint. Defend us in battle, indeed.

4ST. MICHAEL PROTECT US BIBLE

The St. Michael Protect Us Bible is a personalized Catholic Bible edition designed for service members, featuring a branch-inspired insignia and available in traditional colors.

5A GOOD BOOK

An interesting book is the perfect way to pass the time during one of those all-too-familiar “hurry up and wait” moments.

Besides the Bible and devotional mentioned above, there are a number of other inspirational and interesting books for Catholic service members, including the following:
