Don Maurizio Gronchi, a consultant to the Vatican Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, told AciPrensa.com on 18 November that the drafting of Tucho’s recent document Mater Populi Fidelis against the title Co-Redemptrix had a striking feature.
Don Gronchi co-presented the document alongside Tucho and is an enemy of the title.
The Dicastery's work has historically been 'collegial'. For each topic studied, the Dicastery draws on the input of internal consultants, external experts and other sources.
However, in the case of this document on Marian titles, "no collaborating Mariologists could be found", according to Fr Gronchi.
He pointed out that neither the faculty of the Marianum nor the Pontifical International Marian Academy participated in the presentation of the document. In his opinion, this can be interpreted as a “silence” that “can be understood as dissent”.
