In Memoriam ~ Harold, Last King of the English (R+I+P)

14 October 1066

Died this day, Prídie Idus Octóbris, Anno Domini 1066, Harold Godwinson, last King of the English, on Senlac Hill, in the Land of the Haestingas, in the Kingdom of the English.

O God, Whose property is always to have mercy and to spare, we humbly beseech Thee for the soul of Thy servant Harold, which Thou hast commanded to depart out of this world, that Thou wouldst not deliver it into the hands of the enemy, nor forget it unto the end, but wouldst command it to be received by the Holy Angels, and conducted to Paradise, its true country; that as in Thee it hath hoped and believed, it may not suffer the pains of hell, but may take possession of eternal joys.
Through Christ our Lord who liveth and reigneth with the Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost.

Amen.

℣. Requiem æternam dona ei, Domine
℟. Et lux perpetua luceat ei:
℣. Requiescat in pace.
℟. Amen.

Memory Eternal!

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
