"I'm a Bishop, of Course...": Minnesota Bishops Take On Social Media Trend in Hilarious Video on the Life of a Bishop

I'm glad they have a sense of humour, but are they Catholic? His Grace was made a Bishop by Benedict, but His Lordship owes it all to Francis.

“I’m a bishop, and of course, the best perk of my job is wearing that awesome hat.”

Archbishop Bernard Hebda of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and Bishop Andrew Cozzens of the Diocese of Crookston in Minnesota collaborated on a popular social media trend on Instagram.

Both accounts posted a comedic reel to their combined follow count of almost 3,000 with the caption, “Do you ever wonder what goes on inside a bishop’s head? Archbishop Hebda and Bishop Cozzens offer an inside look at what it’s really like to be a bishop…”

Here's the video below:

The reel has over 300 likes and many comments, with the bishops joking about their daily lives:

“I’m a bishop, of course my communications team is late to social media trends because everyone gave up social media for lent.”

“I’m a bishop, of course, I have to constantly check that my pectoral cross is facing right.”

“I’m a bishop, of course I’ve been to Rome and yes it is really lovely this time of year.”

“I’m a bishop, of course, I remember those kids who choose obscure saints for their confirmation names like Saint Homobonus or Saint Drogo.”

“I’m a bishop, of course I hate when my communications team makes me do TikToks.”

“I’m a bishop, and of course, the best perk of my job is wearing that awesome hat.”

“I’m a bishop and of course, I’m going to be part of a Eucharistic pilgrimage when it comes through the Twin Cities this summer and of course to see my old friend, Bishop Cozzens.”

Many Instagram users published comments on the reel, appreciating the humor of both bishops:

“This is epic!” one user wrote.

“Love this!" another person said.

“Haha, this is so awesome!” someone else commented.

“Love this,” one user added.

“SO great!" another person said.

“Love you all!” another user said.

Though members of the clergy are extremely busy, Archbishop Hebda and Bishop Cuzzens took a few minutes to uniquely connect with their dioceses.

It may seem silly, but you never know who may be inspired to explore a religious vocation because they saw a 53-second reel.

Let us pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life!

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
