Philippe D'Orleans - Louis XIV's FLAMBOYANT brother

Video about the king's brother, Philippe de France, son of France, Duke of Anjou at his birth then Duke of Orleans in 1660, also called Philippe d'Orléans, born September 21, 1640 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye and died June 9, 1701 in Château de Saint-Cloud, is a prince of the French royal family, son of Louis XIII and Anne of Austria, and younger brother of King Louis XIV. Titled Duke of Anjou at his birth, he is known by his title of Duke of Orleans from the death of his uncle Gaston de France in 1660 but also under the name of "Monsieur", a title reserved for the King's brother. His direct descendants form the younger branch of Orléans, including his son Louis-Philippe who became King of France at the end of the French Revolution of 1830, and today the Orleanist contenders for the throne of France.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
