Coptic Martyrs Are Not Catholic Martyrs

First he made a non-Catholic Doctor of the Church. Now, he's putting them into the Martyrology. Is there no end to what he will do to undermine Catholicism?

From The American Catholic

Sainthood as a tool in diplomacy between churches. I personally believe there are plenty of non-Catholics in Heaven. The Copts who died rather than apostatize are almost certainly among their number. For the Catholic Church to enroll them among the ranks of her saints however is simply wrong. That public proclamation is for Catholics only. The Pope has changed that tradition as old as the Church for a short term headline as he meets with the Coptic “Pope” of Egypt. This will be seized upon by Catholics who wish to neuter the Faith and make the Church merely one among many churches. Our current Pope is a negative Pope. He is so often wrong when he speaks or acts that he is almost a Bizarro world guide to what the Church holds and teaches.

I would note that I have a lot of respect for the Egyptian Copts. Preserving their faith in a sea of Islam for almost fourteen centuries takes a raw courage that elicits my admiration. But they are not Catholics, and the slave of the slaves of Christ should be clear on that point.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
