The common narrative around Vatican II claims its constitutions and decrees passed almost unanimously because the changes were so universally popular. But that is not the full picture. A dedicated group of bishops actively voted against key reforms like the changes to the liturgy. What drove their resistance? What were they seeing that the majority ignored? Today, we are looking at six bishops who bucked the trend and fought to preserve sacred tradition at Vatican II.
