Who’s Buried With the Tudors at Westminster Abbey? | The Room Where 16 Kings and Queen Are Buried

From History Calling

Welcome to the incredible room where 16 Kings and Queens are buried in Westminster Abbey. This is the Henry VII Chapel and in it lie royals drawn from four dynasties, the Plantagenets, the Tudors, the Stuarts and the Hanoverians. There are 11 monarchs and 4 queen consorts crammed together in this one space, and in this video from History Calling we look at who they are and at who is buried with the Tudors. Furthermore, I’ll explain why there is a monarch of another country buried here, rather than just English Kings and Queens and which monarch is buried in the Henry VII Chapel who died before it was even built. The stories behind royal burials in this incredible space cover the rise and fall of royal dynasties and they range from heartbreak, to murder, to execution, to throne stealers to the most famous monarch in English history. They also span hundreds of years of English history. The monarchs looked at in today’s video are Edward V, Henry VII, Edward VI, Mary I, Elizabeth I, Mary, Queen of Scots, James I, Charles II, Mary II, William III, Queen Anne and George II. The Queen consorts buried in the Henry VII Lady Chapel at Westminster Abbey are Elizabeth of York, Anne of Denmark (wife of James VI and I), Queen Caroline of Ansbach (wife of George II) and Elizabeth, Queen of Bohemia, daughter of James I of England. Each of them, to one degree or another, shaped English history to help form the United Kingdom as we know it today. If you love British history, royal family documentaries, or the hidden stories of Westminster Abbey, this video is for you!
