Ranks of the Catholic Church Explained in 7 Minutes! (See Note)

How is the Vatican actually organised? From the local Catholic priest to the Pope himself, the hierarchy of the Catholic Church is complex. This will break down the ranks within Catholicism, explaining the unique role of a bishop and how Eastern catholic traditions fit into the global structure.

Note from the Old Curmudgeon ~ In the feudal hierarchy, the Pope ranked as King, the Cardinals as Princes of the Empire, Archbishops as Imperial Counts, and Bishops as Barons.

When the Pontifical Zouaves saluted Blessed Pope Pius IX for the last time before Rome fell, they shouted: "Long live Pius IX, Pontiff & King!" and we still refer to Cardinals as "Princes of the Church".

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Leo XIV as the Vicar of Christ, the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
