Edward the Confessor, was the last Anglo-Saxon King of the House of Wessex, growing up during the most turbulent time in English History. As the 7th son of King Aethelred the Unready, he was never meant to assume the throne, however, the viking conquest of England and the vanquishing of his family would leave him as one of the only remaining heirs to the bloodline of the house of Wessex, the first kings of all England.
This is the tragic story of Edward the Confessor, a man who would restore his house to power but, in his long and politically weak rule he would set in motion one of the most defining events in English history—the Norman Invasion and the ultimate demise of Anglo-Saxon culture. This is his story.
