- 1244 – Over 200 Cathars who refuse to recant their heresy are burnt to death after the Fall of Montségur.
- 1465 – Kunigunde of Austria, Duchess of Bavaria, born.
- 1649 – Jean de Brébeuf, a French-Canadian missionary died.
- 1978 – Former Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro is kidnapped; he is later murdered by the Red Brigades.
