Open Schism: German Bishop Defies Vatican by Permitting Blessings of Homosexual Unions

Every day, the German Church moves further and further away from the Catholic Church.

Bishop of the Diocese of Essen and the Military Ordinariate of Germany, Franz-Josef Overbeck, has publicly stated his defiance against the Vatican's position that blessings for homosexual couples was "illicit," "unlawful," and that God "does not and cannot bless sin." Overbeck, in open schism with the Church, intends to not sanction priests who wish to bless gay couples in an upcoming LGBT-sponsored event.

Last month, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), in a responsum ad dubium (reply to a doubt), affirmed that "there are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions to be in any way similar or even remotely analogous to God's plan for marriage and family." For this fact, "it cannot be licit to bestow a blessing imitating the nuptial blessing invoked on the man and woman united in the sacrament of matrimony."

Multiple modernist priests plan to provide "Blessings for the unions of people who love each other" at an upcoming LGBT-sponsored event in Germany. Overbeck, with no interest in adhering to Church teachings or the recent declaration by the CDF, said that he not going to "suspend" or enforce other ecclesiastical punishment for blessing gay couples.

Implying that other German bishops share his position, the prelate stated that "I, and other bishops, have said that clearly: "I don't do that." Overbeck went further to heretically infer that "there is also a lot of blessing on those who live together as couples - with faithfulness and reliable connections."

Overbeck is jumping in line behind the German Schism, which worships homosexuality on the altar of modernism more than the Holy Eucharist at the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. These reckless positions are leading thousands, if not millions, of souls into error and to their eternal damnation. For such scandalous offenses, a "millstone should be [hung] about his neck, and...drowned in the depth of the sea." (Matthew 18:6).

It is clear that the German Church, like the heretic Martin Luther, is in open schism with the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Over 200 German-speaking Catholic theologians published counter positions to the Vatican declaration, arguing that it “is characterized by a paternalistic gesture of superiority and discriminates against homosexual people and their lifestyle.” This is the largest error with 'blind mercy' that has crept into the Church along with modernism.

Multiple Catholic clergy are expected to attend the LGBT event on May 10, which has been publicized with the slogan “We do not deny a blessing.” The event, organized by the homosexual priest Bernd Mönkebüscher, who came out as gay in 2019.

By the grace of God, not all German bishops are included in this horrendous schism. A strong number of German bishops have received the Vatican’s statement as a definitive answer and supportive of Church teachings. Unfortunately, these bishops are drowned out by the modernists, who are more vocal in the press and on social media.

Among these 'good shepherds' are Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki, Archbishop of Cologne; Freiburg Bishop Stephan Burger; Erfurt Bishop Ulrich Neymeyer; Eichstätt Bishop Gregor Maria Hanke; Görlitz Bishop Wolfgang Ipolt; Passau Bishop Stefan Oster; and Regensburg Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
