The musings and meandering thoughts of a crotchety old man as he observes life in the world and in a small, rural town in South East Nebraska. I hope to help people get to Heaven by sharing prayers, meditations, the lives of the Saints, and news of Church happenings. My Pledge: Nulla dies sine linea ~ Not a day without a line.

Saragarhi Day -
A humble signal station manned only by Havildar Ishar Singh and twenty sepoys of the 36th Sikhs of the
British Indian Army (now the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment, Indian Army) finds itself beset by 10,000 attackers. There is no hope
for relief, but even knowing it will come at the cost of their lives,
the Sikhs refuse to stand down. The Battle of Saragarhi took place 123 years ago today in the North-West Frontier Province of British India (now in modern Pakistan). It is considered to be one of history's greatest last stands. The 4th battalion of the Sikh Regiment of Indian Army commemorates the battle every year on 12 September, as Saragarhi Day They died for their Queen-Empress. Lest we forget.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
