The musings and meandering thoughts of a crotchety old man as he observes life in the world and in a small, rural town in South East Nebraska. I hope to help people get to Heaven by sharing prayers, meditations, the lives of the Saints, and news of Church happenings. My Pledge: Nulla dies sine linea ~ Not a day without a line.

Godfrey of Bouillon's Reign - Episode 5: Raid on Arsuf, 1100
Real Crusades History #32 In February, Godfrey of Bouillon received a Saracen at his court who
desired to find favor with him. This particular Saracen helped Godfrey
in his struggle against Arsuf. Albert explains (see Albert of Aachen, p.
16).
Here is another interesting episode described by Albert, in
which ten Christian knights in Godfrey’s service independently raid
Arsuf. This incident reveals how rough and rugged was the world of
Godfrey’s reign, in which small bands of knights could operate
effectively (see Albert of Aachen, p. 17).
