Notre-Dame Fire: An Ivorian King Wants to Participate in the Reconstruction

For those liberals and secularists who rejoiced at the fire because of the horrible 'sins' of French colonisation, a Black African King plans on contributing to the reconstruction of Notre-Dame.

A humble rebuke to those clamouring liberal atheists saying that Notre Dame's fire was deserved for European Colonisation. I have translated the article below.

King Amon N'Douffou V, King of Krindjabo, capital of Sanwi, Côte d’Ivoire has pledged to send aid to restore the Cathedral, where Prince Louis Aniaba, of the Kingdom, was baptised in the early 1700s.

"The images of the fire deeply disturbed my sleep, and I had not been able to sleep all night because this Cathedral represents a strong tie between my Kingdom and the former Kingdom of France" said the Sovereign of the Kingomd of Akan - a large ethnic group which extends from Côte d’Ivoire to Togo.

At the age of 15 years old, Prince Aniaba, a local nobleman, had been brought to France in 1687 by the Knight of Amon in an oath of fidelity to King Louis XIV, King of France. He was baptized a catholic by Bossuet and took the name of his Godfather, Louis. He thus became Louis Aniaba, before having been named an Officer in the Royal Regiment, with the rank of Captain.

King Louis XIV distinguished him with the Order of the Star of Notre-Dame, and on February 12th, 1701, he received the insignia of his order in the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris before departing back to Côte d’Ivoire.

Le roi de Krindjabo, capitale du royaume du Sanwi, dans le sud-est de la Côte d’Ivoire, va faire un don pour la reconstruction de la cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, où avait été baptisé dans les années 1700, Louis Aniaba, un prince du royaume.

“Je suis en pleine consultation avec mes notables, nous allons faire un don pour la reconstruction de ce monument”, a déclaré à l’AFP Le roi Amon N’Douffou V.

“Les images (de l’incendie) ont troublé mon sommeil et je n’ai pas pu passer la nuit, car cette cathédrale représente un lien fort entre mon royaume (le Sanwi, un protectorat français depuis juillet 1843) et la France”, a souligné le souverain du royaume akan – grand groupe ethnique qui s‘étend de la Côte d’Ivoire au Togo.

A l‘âge de 15 ans, le prince Aniaba, noble local, avait été emmené en France en 1687 par le chevalier d’Amon en gage de fidélité à Louis XIV. Il avait été baptisé par Bossuet et avait pris le prénom de son parrain : Louis. Il devint Louis Aniaba, avant d‘être nommé officier dans le régiment royal, avec le grade de capitaine.

Louis XIV le distinguera de “l’Ordre de l’Étoile de Notre-Dame” et le 12 février 1701, il reçut les insignes de son ordre dans la cathédrale Notre-Dame avant de repartir en Côte d’Ivoire.
