From Chevalier Henry Sire, SMOM, Author of 'The Dictator Pope
1) What do I regard as the most troubling developments in the current pontificate? People are alarmed, and rightly, by the abandonment of clear doctrine, especially in the field of sexual morality, but to me the most appalling feature of Francis's rule is...
2) ... the reckless submission to the spirit of the modern world. We now see a complete collapse of the Church's defence in the face of the satanic advance against Christian society that has been evident for the past sixty years.
3) I am struck by the extent to which, just in the last five years, the frenzy of 'liberal' society has strengthened in fields like the refusal to tolerate any opposition to abortion, or the attempt to deny the reality of human nature as regards sexual difference and marriage.
4) Also deeply troubling in this pontificate is Francis's disturbing treatment of those he regards as enemies within. Cardinal Burke provides the prime example of Pope Francis's method of hitting at his perceived enemies indirectly.
5) In the case of the Order of Malta, Pope Francis took the extraordinary course of forcing the Grand Master, Fra Matthew Festing, to resign for attempting to enforce the Church's teaching on contraception...
6) ...but the real reason for this paradox was that he wanted to strike at Cardinal Burke, by suspending him from his office as Cardinal Patronus of the Order, and above all by depriving him of his most sympathetic ally in the Order, who was Fra Matthew.
7) With Cardinal Sarah we have another very typical act, whereby Pope Francis first instructed Cardinal Sarah to continue with the liturgical renewal outlined by Benedict, and then hit at him indirectly by ordering a purge of his subordinates, thus leaving him isolated.
8) With Cardinal Müller it is more a case of the gracelessness and lack of manners with which the cardinal was dismissed without notice and with no good reason.
9) The case of the Auditor General is in some ways the worst of all, because it shows the way in which the supposed financial reform of the Vatican has been completely halted.
10) The man who was supposed to be investigating financial affairs and ensuring probity was dismissed in brutal style and with methods suggestive of a police state.
Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
