Chevalier Charles Coulombe on Religious Tolerance in Catholic Monarchy

From Blessed Pope Pius IX, the Syllabus of Errors,
55. [It is a condemned opinion that] The Church ought to be separated from the .State, and the State from the Church.—Allocution "Acerbissimum," Sept. 27, 1852.
The Chevalier explains the concept of religious tolerance in a Catholic Confessional State. Spain under Franco is a good example. Prior to the Council, after which Franco was 'pressured' to change the laws, all religions were tolerated, as long as they did not disturb the public peace or violate morality. However, only the Faith of Christ's Church was recognised by the State. All others could worship freely, in their own buildings dedicated to that purpose. Non-Catholic religions were not allowed to put identifying signage on their buildings, advertise their existence or times of service, or to hold public events, such as processions. All activities were confined to their religious buildings. This was all in conformity to the Immemorial Teaching of Christ's Church.

This outraged the modernists and liberals who took control of the Church after the Council, since they had written the heresy of 'religious freedom' into the Council Documents, specifically in the 'Declaration on Religious Freedom', Dignitatis Humanae. They 'persuaded' Franco to accept the new heresy and change the laws. Today, of course, any mention of a confessional state brings immediate charges of 'theocratic fascism', fascism being the go-to term for any opinion unacceptable to the left-wing masters of society.

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
