Posted on 21 March, four days after St Patrick's Feast Day, the question was asked by a gentleman whose Christian name is Patrick. He was obviously researching his Name Saint, and was surprised to find that he had never been 'officially' canonised.
The Chevalier explains why this is so, and how Saints were proclaimed prior to the 'formalisation' of the process in the 11th and 12th centuries.
