Interesting and Informative Posts for Catholics

Each night at midnight, I have a group of posts that are Catholic in nature. I post the Roman Martyrology for the following day, anticipated as it is read at Prime in the 1962 (and earlier) Breviaries in the Roman Rite.

This is followed by the reading of the day from the Holy Rule of St Benedict, Father of Western Monks as it is read in the Traditional Monastic Breviary. These are both posted as an aid to anyone who prays the Roman or Monastic Breviary and doesn't own the books or for those who simply want to learn more about the Saints of the Church or the Benedictine Rule. Both are in English translation.

Then I post the daily entry from A Chesterton Calendar, a collection of snippets from the great Catholic writer, GKC.

These are followed by links to posts on a friend's blog, In Lumine Fidei-The Liturgical Year for Traditional Catholics. These are usually the selections for the Saint(s) of the day and the day of the liturgical season, taken from The Liturgical Year, by Dom Prosper Guéranger, O.S.B.

For those who would like to learn more about our Eastern Catholic brethren, this is followed by a post on the Saints and Feasts of the Byzantine Rite Catholic Churches. I'm using the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church's Calendar.

Then I post the daily meditation from Antonio, Cardinal Bacci's Meditations For Each Day. For those unfamiliar with His Eminence, he was the other Cardinal, who along with Alfredo, Cardinal Ottaviani, sent Pope Paul the 'Ottaviani Intervention', the
Short Critical Study on the New Order of Mass which cast doubt on the orthodoxy of the New Order of the Mass that had just been promulgated.

If you're interested, just stop by Musings of an Old Curmudgeon anytime after midnight!

Comments are subject to deletion if they are not germane. I have no problem with a bit of colourful language, but blasphemy or depraved profanity will not be allowed. Attacks on the Catholic Faith will not be tolerated. Comments will be deleted that are republican (Yanks! Note the lower case 'r'!), attacks on the legitimacy of Pope Francis as the Vicar of Christ (I know he's a material heretic and a Protector of Perverts, and I definitely want him gone yesterday! However, he is Pope, and I pray for him every day.), the legitimacy of the House of Windsor or of the claims of the Elder Line of the House of France, or attacks on the legitimacy of any of the currently ruling Houses of Europe.
